SO ALEX, WHY IS THIS YOUR SONG OF THE WEEK?

Formerly of Loveable Rogues, Té Eugene – now trading as Qhairo – is the second of the ‘What A Night’ hitmakers to branch out with solo material.

‘Tell ‘Em’ is the third song he’s released under his own steam, following the release of ‘Waves’ and ‘Strong Arms’ last year, and is a really strong, captivating single.

A smart, brooding and atmospheric mix of R&B and trip hop, calling to mind Kendrick Lamar and Labrinth, ‘Tell ‘Em’ is by no means an easy record. It’s challenging and charged with intensity, but repeated listens reveal these as its strengths. A superb effort.
