Hello people, and welcome to a special festive edition of The Good News Week. In this season of peace and love and kindness, we thought we’d shed light on three such stories of these that have made the headlines.

The Good News Week is having a break but will return on 8th January 2020 at 5pm. But if you enjoy the stories we’ve found this week, let us know – remember this is a place for you to share any good news you find too, be it local or national – and from wherever in the world you are!

So if you find something positive in the news over the holidays that you think we should feature on our first blog of the new year, then you can leave your comments below or Tweet us with the hashtag #GoodNewsWeek!

SHOWING LOVE IN OLDHAM

A real winter warmer of a first story this week. Last week on BBC Breakfast, they featured the story of Terrence, an old man from Oldham near Manchester who has spent the last 20 Christmases all alone. What happened next when one of the show’s presenters Dan Walker went back to visit him will move you and warm your heart. Tap here.

A REMARKABLE UNDERGROUND STORY

Next, a story from Secret LDN which will definitely move you. If you’ve ever visited London, and wondered why the tube announcement to ‘Mind the Gap’ at Embankment station sounds different to that on the other tube stops, this story will tell you why.

COMING HOME FOR CHRISTMAS

Finally this week, to ABC News, and to the story of Chloe Cress, who has now been told by doctors that the cancer she has spent over 18 months receiving treatment for is now in remission and that she will be able to head home with her family to Tennessee this Christmas. Read her story here.
