- ARTIST: B*Witched
- SONG: Hold On
SO ALEX, WHY IS THIS YOUR SONG OF THE WEEK?
What are they loike? Five years on from their (actually quite briliant) self released EP ‘Champagne or Guinness’, the B*Witched ladies have returned with a cover of a song you’re surprised they hadn’t seen sense to do so before now.
‘Hold On’ was of course a huge hit way back in 1990 for Wilson Phillips, but has now been given a suitably modern and Celtic update after they added it to their live setlist about a year ago.
It’s rather like an audial hug from 1998 this. Though a cover version, it’s a solid reading of it, and you’re reminded of actually, how well they do sound and harmonize together, which was not something that was often picked up on with them back in the day.
And even though it now creates the slightly amusing predicament of them having three songs with ‘Hold On’ in the title in their back catalogue, it bodes well for what looks to be a full new album in the new year.
