So then. The first brand new material from Craig David for more than a year (unless we’re counting his collaboration with Nile Rodgers for his last album) and it couldn’t be more well timed if it tried.

The comeback kid of this decade has actually collaborated with another pop phoenix on this single, as the Captain of Take That, Gary Barlow has co-written this with him along with Fraser T Smith.

Not one to be stuck on one style of music for too long, ‘When You Know What Love Is’ shifts slightly away from the 2am, brooding, heady-in-the-club R&B of his last album for a decidedly more sunnier direction.

Tailor made for those summer days when you’re tripping down the street in your sandals or with the roof down, speakers blasting, this piano house banger with an irresistible chorus perfectly marks the start of summer in style. Welcome back Craig.
