Sometimes the world can be a confusing, scary and upsetting place, but there’s always good people out there doing amazing things and making headlines in the process – and we bring another three of them to you here with this week’s installment of The Good News Week.

If you enjoy the stories we’ve found this week, let us know – remember this is a place for you to share any good news you find too, be it local or national – and from wherever in the world you are!

So if you find something positive in the news this coming week that you think we should feature next Wednesday then you can leave your comments below or Tweet us with the hashtag #GoodNewsWeek!

LANDMARK BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS FOR THE NEXT GENERATION

First this week to BBC News and to a beautiful part of the UK – Cornwall. Resident Ti Østmo has just this week celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends on a Falmouth beach, and the keen environmentalist has selflessly asked for people to plant trees to help take action on climate change. More on this remarkable story here.

NEW WHEELS FROM THE POLICE

A truly heartwarming piece here now from Herald Sun, as Chad Wiliford, a member of the North Carolina Police Force, and his act of kindness for a local teen who had their bike stolen and has now been recognised with an honour by his force. Read more about his life changing act of generosity here.

TOP OF THE TWEET POPS

Lastly this week, we head to Pitchfork Media, and to a story about the bird conservation charity the RSPB, who this week have entered the top 20 of the UK singles chart with a track which – is quite aptly – bird song to raise awareness of their work to help our endangered feathered friends. Find out more about this most unique of chart hits here.
