The Good News Week (23/01/2019)

Even though it’s cold and grey outside, that doesn’t mean you can’t make your Wednesday that little bit brighter with The Good News Week – this is our weekly bulletin of all the most uplifting and inspiring stories that have been featured in the news in the last seven days.

THE HONOURARY STATIONMASTER

First this week, we head over to The Newmarket Journal. A retired former cab driver from the home of one of Britain’s most famous racecourses has been hailed as an unsung hero by train operator Greater Anglia. Click here to hear about the special award they have given to Michael Baldwin for his incredible voluntary work.

A HOPEFUL REBUILD

For our next story, we head to the land down under in Queensland, Australia, and to the story of a team of officers in their police force who have come together to help rebuild the front garden of an elderly woman that was the site of a tragic car crash they had to attend last year. More on this moving and uplifting story can be found here.

FORMING SUPERHEROES OF THE FUTURE

And finally this week, we head over to the States and to Michigan, where Centria Autism Services, a centre for children and young people on the autism spectrum, where over 300 children and their families were surprised with a visit from ‘superheroes’ ranging from Captain America to Wonder Woman to help them identify their strengths and talents. Read more on this amazing story here.

We hope you enjoyed the stories we bought you this week. Don’t forget that we want this to be a place for you to share any good news you find too, be it local or national!
