    Today’s song is the only Christmas song that’s been Christmas number one twice in the UK under two different artists. It was of course Harry Belafonte who was the first to take the original ‘Mary’s Boy Child’ to the top for 1956.

    Having been kings of the chart for much of 1978, German disco pop titans Boney M were the next to take it to number one to cap off an incredible year of success, massive white parkas and all, with their version including a new segment of the song called ‘Oh My Lord’.
