- ARTIST: Dean Martin
- SONG: Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
It may seem ludicrous to suggest it, but one of the easiest listening of all the Christmas classics was actually recorded in a heatwave. Absolutely true. Yes, jazz singer and musician Vaughn Monroe recorded the original ‘Let It Snow’ back in the long hot summer of July 1946, when the song’s writers were dreaming of colder weather.
Zipping forward thirteen years to 1959, and one of the original members of the Rat Pack, Dean Martin, recorded his version for his wintry themed concept album ‘A Winter Romance’. And in all honesty, it’s the definitive version of this song, all snug like a Mexican hot chocolate whilst curled up by a log fire.
