Christmas Song Advent Calendar 2018: Day 4

  • ARTIST: Pet Shop Boys
  • SONG: It Doesn’t Often Snow At Christmas

The proud owners of 1987’s festive chart topper with their big and brassy take on Elvis Presley’s “Always On My Mind”, Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe, aka the world’s biggest selling electronic pop duo of all time, first recorded an outright Christmas song as an exclusive fanclub only CD in 1997.

It was to be twelve years later before “It Doesn’t Often Snow At Christmas” existed in any official sense, forming the title track to their 2009 EP, simply titled “Christmas”. A throbbing disco beat, sleigh bells and a Gregorian choir announce this number about remembering what this time of year’s really all about, even when everything else about the season is open to being a let down.
