Christmas Song Advent Calendar 2018: Day 2

      Originally a hit for Chrissie Hynde’s chart topping rock band The Pretenders back in December 1983 (it got as high as #15 here), ‘2000 Miles’ has remained a staple of Christmas compilation albums ever since, with everyone from Coldplay to Natalie Imbruglia turning in covers of the song about long distance relationships at Yuletide.

      One of the most faithful takes on the song in recent years however, was Scots singer-songwriter KT Tunstall’s version, recorded in 2007 for her festive EP ‘Have Yourself A Very KT Christmas’. She wholly captures Ms Hynde’s same gravelly vulnerability in her vocals on the original whilst also truly making the song her own. Rock on girl!
