My Celtic heritage means that I couldn’t not include this in my Christmas Song Advent Calendar this year – or every year for that matter. And this year, is especially important for Shane McGowan and co’s legendary duet with the late, great Kirsty MacColl, as it celebrates it’s 30th anniversary since release.

Despite never reaching number one – Pet Shop Boys beat them to the Christmas top spot with Always On My Mind first time out – it’s sold over a million copies, and consistently been voted as the nation’s favourite Christmas song, including winning Richard Osman’s World Cup of Christmas Songs last week.
