Welcome back one and all to #StrictlyLiveBlogging! 24 hours have passed since another incredible live show of Strictly Come Dancing – and what a show it was. We had over 20 viewers reading along last night so big thank you everyone who read along.
We’ll get going with a warm up looking back at last night’s show and ahead to tonight’s first results show and dance off at 6:45pm, before we go live again at 7:15pm with the first results show on BBC One. 6:40pm
Last night, the fifteen celebrities and their dance partners all took to the floor for the second time this series – and the judges’ scores were added to last week’s to give them a new total and position on the leaderboard.
Following their dazzling Viennese waltz, Debbie and Giovanni ascended to the top of the leaderboard with a total of 64 for both that dance and their Paso Doble from last week. Aston and Janette were close behind with a total of 63 for their well ranked Salsa and Foxtrot, whilst a standing ovation and four consecutive nines from the judges for her storming Paso Doble last night meant Alexandra and Gorka took third place with a total of 60 for that and their Waltz.
It was a disappointing night for Charlotte and Brendan though, as their poorly received Cha Cha Cha landed them joint bottom of the leaderboard on a total of 34 points for that and their Foxtrot – saved from landing at the very bottom by the Reverend Richard and Dianne, whose American smooth and Foxtrot also landed them a total of 34 points.
6:45pm
Tonight, following the first public vote, the two lowest scoring couples will dance again in the dance off, and following a judge’s vote, the first couple to be voted off will leave this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Also tonight, the professional dancers will open the show with a bowling alley inspired group jive, the judges will look back at their highlights of last night’s dances, and BRIT award winning, chart topping singer Emeli Sandé will perform her new single live in the studio.
6:50pm
Don’t forget you can leave us your comments below, or Tweet us using the hashtag #StrictlyLiveBlogging at any time tonight as the results are unveiled – we are always happy to hear your feedback!
7:10pm
5 minutes to go! Here’s Giovanni and Neil ahead of tonight’s group dance:
And here’s AJ…
7:12pm
3 minutes to go…
7:15pm
Here we go people…!
7:17pm
If only all bowling alleys were as fun as this! Back to the 50s for sure with this group dance!
7:21pm
We’re liking Craig’s two tone brogues, daah-ling…
7:24pm
We’ll find out soon who’s in the first dance off of the series – who will be in there? I have a feeling it’ll be Brian and Charlotte…what do you think?
On another note. Alexandra’s Paso Doble and Aston’s Salsa. UH. MAY. ZING!
7:26pm
The first lot of couples who are safe and through to next week are:
- Debbie and Giovanni!
- Aston and Janette!
- Davood and Nadia!
- Mollie and AJ!
- Jonnie and Oti!
- Ruth and Anton!
7:29pm
And the first couple in tonight’s dance off…are Chizzy and Pasha! Sad face 😞
7:32pm
It’s time now for a music performance – Emeli Sandé is performing her brand new single “Starlight”. Bit of a tropical house sound for her I say!
I think I prefer her older stuff. Loving Neil and Katya’s routine to this mind!
7:35pm
Time for the judges – or the oracles of dance as Claudia says – to dissect last night’s dances.
Shirley was impressed with Simon’s frame, but said regarding his spin with Karen that he kept it going despite making an obvious mistake.
Darcey said that Debbie was effortless in her moves on the Viennese waltz, and that it was rare to see that on Week 2.
Craig said regarding the swivel on Susan’s Charleston it was non existent, but all on one side with Ruth’s, but that he loved Susan’s facial expressions.
Bruno said Alexandra was the embodiment of the dance and drags you into the experience of the Paso Doble, and that it was one of the best week 2 performances!
7:39pm
The next lot of couples through to next week are in:
- Susan and Kevin!
- Joe and Katya!
- Alexandra and Gorka!
- Gemma and Aljaz!
- Simon and Karen!
- Charlotte and Brendan!
- Reverend Richard and Dianne!
7:42pm
Which means Brian and Amy are in the dance off with Chizzy and Pasha. Who do you think will survive this week?
7:43pm
Well done to all the couples who got through. Next week, the theme of the live show will be Movie Week, with the couples all taking on dances inspired by popular movies – Susan will apparently be Wonder Woman, and Ruth a Bond girl! Movie Week starts next Saturday at 6:35pm on BBC One along with our live blog!
7:48pm
Dancing first again are Chizzy and Pasha with their Foxtrot.
Have to say this is lacking a bit of the same sass it had last night that made this so enjoyable. She is putting in more traditional Foxtrot moves though than last night.
7:50pm
Brian and Amy are next up to dance their Cha Cha Cha. Still as stumbly and wooden as it was last night for me I think.
I’d be very surprised if he survives this dance off!
7:53pm
So it’s now time for the judges to vote who they are saving to go through to Movie Week…
7:54pm
Craig is saving Chizzy and Pasha…
Darcey is saving Brian and Amy…
Meaning a tie!
7:53pm
Bruno is also saving Brian and Amy, meaning Shirley has the casting vote.
And she is saving…Brian and Amy.
Commiserations to Chizzy and Pasha, the first couple voted off this year’s series. A shock result I have to say, and definitely not the right choice in my view.
7:55pm
That’s it for another weekend of Strictly Live Blogging. Thank you all for reading along. We will see you back here next Saturday at 6:00pm for the Warm-Up, and then we go live at 6:35pm for the Movie Week special. See you all then and in the meantime…keeeep blogging!
